textures and dimension with Pam de Groot

Last week we had a very interesting workshop with Pam de Groot in my atelier Fiberfusing.  

In het weekend van 13-15 oktober jl. heeft er een hele interessante workshop plaatsgevonden met Pam de Groot in mijn atelier Fiberfusing

Everyone had brought some inspiration and we determined the textures of shelves, nuts, leaves, flowers and pods

Pam had gevraagd om iets ter inspiratie mee te nemen om te ontdekken hoeveel texturen er te zien in schelpen, noten, bladeren, bloemen en zaaddozen

Vervolgens liet ze ons een aantal texturale creaties van haarzelf zien. 

On the first day we made sevaral samples to practice different ways in the techniques of making textures

Op de eerste dag hebben we diverse proeflapjes gemaakt om de verschillende manieren van technieken in het maken van texturen te oefenen

Fascinating how simple it begins and getting a big result at the end. 

Het is verrassend te ervaren hoe simpel iets begint om the eindigen in een groots resultaat

Free construction

Pam de Groot, feltartist from Australia, introduced an another way to make felted clothes. She combined her knowledge about zero waste and substraction cutting with her experiences in sewing garments and feltmaking  and bought it to a next level. It needed some time for most of the students to get to understand this new free path of working. It was diffucult how to visualize the new form of the dress from such a huge  prefeltform. But they succeeded very well, It was amazing to watch the transformation once it is completely felted and dyed.....

Pam de Groot (spreek uit als 'Pem de Groet') uit Australie heeft vorig weekend een zeer unieke workshop geintroduceerd in mijn atelier Fiberfusing in het maken van vilten kleding. Ze heeft haar kennis van zero waste en subtraction cutting zo gecombineerd met haar ervaring in het naaien van kleding en vilten dat het idee naar een volgend niveau is gebracht. Deze nieuwe manier van werken bracht menig cursist uit balans, de vrijheid  vroeg veel van het inlevingsvermogen. Des te groter is de verbazing en voldoening als van zo'n heel groot stuk voorvilt er uiteindelijk een prachtige kledingstuk ontstaan die uniek is in zijn soort.

new workshop with Pam de Groot 13, 14, 15 October 2012

I'am excited to announce an extra workshop 'Textures and Dimension' with Pam de Groot at 13-14-15 October 2012. She will teach through sculptural form how to develop techniques to explore spaces, surface, colour and dimension in nature. There are many possibilities and you can work in your own style. Pam will guide you through the designprocesses. Ask for more information by email. 

Pam de Groot zal op 13-14-15 oktober 2012 een extra workshop 'Textures and Dimension´ geven. Met de natuur als inspiratie zal er een sculptuur worden gemaakt, waarbij technieken worden ontwikkeld voor diverse ontwerpelementen als ruimte, huid, kleur en diepte. Een ieder is hierbij vrij om zijn eigen werk te maken, waarbij Pam een individuele begeleiding zal geven. Informatie via de mail op te vragen.
